Another fun filled trip to Lake Powell. This time we took the Cropper family with us. We camped, fished, knee boarded, tubed, skied, and soaked up the sun. What more could you ask for right???
Haylie being a little surfer girl waiting for waves!
Brody was kind of partial to the tube.
As luck would have it...this trip didn't go as smoothly as planned. When we got down to launch, my wave runner wouldn't start. That seemed strange to me being as how Shane started it before we left and it fired right up. After about 30-45 minutes of trying and me seeing water drip out of it continuously, I questioned Shane about what he did after he started it. Come to find out, he left the water running into the engine after he shut it off. Big Mistake Mister! The motor had seized but eventually the water drained and we were able to start it. Shane's boat ran pretty good all the way to camp and for fishing the next morning but then...it was DONE! He couldn't get it to start or run. Good thing he had his trolling motor and we had my wave runner.
After 2 nights of camping and mishaps it was time to go home. When we got everything packed up and were ready to leave Shane's pick-up wouldn't start...ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? Shane and Rich worked on it for a while but it wouldn't even turn over. We set off for the marina to call a tow truck and also Tracy to come and pull our "train" home. Keep in mind...Shane's boat was broke. We hooked a rope between his boat and my wave runner and started our long journey back to the boat ramp. Max speed was 5 mph or the boat would start going sideways. The kids were tired, the sun was hot, and we couldn't do anything about it. Poor little things. About a mile or so from the ramp my low fuel light started flashing. I was extremely worried that since I was towing the boat it would suck all my fuel and we wouldn't make it to the ramp. Luckily we made it to the ramp and didn't have to row.
When we got to the marina, Rich and Lori agreed to take our kids home with them so that they could get some sleep while we waited for our ride. Tracy made really good time getting to the Lake. We loaded up in the truck and went over to see how we were going to get Shane's truck out of the "hole" we had parked in to camp. Tracy hooked on to Shane's truck with straps and the two of them pulled and steered the trucks up to a point to where the tow truck could reach them. It was only a few minutes after we got there that the tow truck arrived.
Once the tow truck was loaded and on its way, we went back to the marina to load boats. Needless to say, we were now doing this in the dark. The loading went flawlessly and then we were on our way home. Shane and I were tired and fought sleep most of the way until we saw a light on the side of the road just outside of Caineville. Tracy was traveling at about 75 mph pulling my waverunner behind the boat, behind the pickup when all of a sudden we see a car off the road with people standing outside waving their arms. That second Shane started yelling "Cow, cow, cow!" The car had hit two black cows and they were laying in the road. One was on the center line and the other was trying to crawl off. Tracy had to maneuver from left to right while slowing us down. I don't know how in the world he managed to get us stopped without hitting something but he did. When we got stopped we walked back to the people who had hit the cows. The car was totally demolished. The passengers were shaken up but with the exception of a few glass shards unharmed. After looking at the car, that was a miracle in itself. We stayed with the occupants of the car until a highway patrolman could arrive. When he arrived we continued our journey home, grateful for all of our blessings that night. I don't think I have even been so happy to be home and with my children.
Love these dirty little faces!
Beautiful even when she's dirty.
More laughs when we downloaded these pictures. My son whose name is Josh was cracking up. He exclaimed, "more awesome Brody pics for my Brody slide show!"
