Haylie's 6th birthday was on a Tuesday this year.  Unfortunately, Shane and I were in Montreal, Quebec on a business trip when her birthday rolled around. Grandma Connie tended the kiddos and they didn't really even seem to miss us. The Thursday night before we left for Canada, we had the family that lived in the area over for some cake and icecream. ( A family tradition we've had since Brody was just little.)  Haylie wanted a cheerleader cake and after I had finished it she says "Mom!  I wanted a Tinkerbell cake too!" With a dallop of icing and a Tinkerbell figurine we fixed the problem.

Haylie's Cheerleading/Tinkerbell birthday cake.  Even though I am not the best at decorating cakes, she doesn't seem to mind.  Look at that smile....what a precious little girl.

She was a little shy while the Happy Birthday song was being performed by her family.

Time to blow out the candles.

Haylie and her best buddy Aja.

Stike a pose sissy!

Haylie was soooo excited to have a Cheerleading birthday party this year.  Unfortunately it was way out of her mom's comfort zone.  I had to enlist Shane's help with the decorations.  While Haylie was at school Shane made over 20 pom poms out of tissue paper.  Wow, what a trooper.  Haylie was so excited when she got home.  The house was covered in streamers and pom poms.  Her party favors were sent home in little megaphones......everyone was thrilled.

I am hoping she will grow out of the cheerleader phase.  Uncle Lance keeps telling me that she is going to be a little foo foo just to spite me.  Oh well, she is a cute little foo foo!

And, she is sassy!

Playing games at her party, you can see she is quite the little cheerleader.  Aunt Daph would be extremely proud, she is very very loud!

I caught her in the middle of a cheer and she wasn't happy that I had interupted her performance to take a picture.

This is a picture of some of her party guests.  They each had a balloon tied to their legs and were trying to pop the other players balloon.  An old classic birthday party game but just as fun and noisy as ever.

I think this was go Emmory.  The girl in the red shirt is Emmory Morrell, one of Haylie's really good friends.  Haylie cheered for her the loudest.

Kate and Aja with their balloons.  Haylie Cheering.

Girls squealing, balloons popping, and lots of giggles.  Good times at the Durfey house!

Haylie had to wait and open her gifts after Shane and I returned from Montreal.  It was only a day after her birthday and she was a really good sport about it.

A cute little shirt and a diary that she saw in Colorado that she really wanted.  Thank you to a nice and thoughtful brother Brody for keeping HER wants and wishes in mind when choosing her gift.

Reading her birthday card.

Final present of the night.  The one she had been anticipating for a month.

Her very own "pink" DSI. "Mom, it even takes pictures."  All in all I would say her birthday was a great success.  I love love love having birthday parties for my kids.  Every year they get to choose a theme and I try my best to put on a memorable party.  It's just too bad they only have one a year.
