NEW GLASSES!

In December I took Brody and Haylie in for their routine eye exam.  Haylie had the privilege of going first.  The eye doctor said she had a little far sightedness.  He recommended that she get glasses to use for reading and anything else that she does up close, playing her DSi, playing the computer, doing her homework etc.  She was so excited.  While Brody was having his eye exam I took Haylie into the next room to choose her glasses.  Boy what a hard decision to make.  There were so many "cute" glasses she just couldn't decide.  Finally, she had it narrowed down to 2 different pair, both of which were very cute.  I was asking her questions and trying to help her make her decision when the doctor walked in with Brody.  Guess what.....Brody's eyes were worse than Haylie's!  We then started the process of choosing glasses for him as well.  It didn't take Brody very long to choose a pair that he liked, and by the time he had picked his, Haylie had chosen hers as well.  Their doctor said they should only have to wear their glasses for about a year and their eyes should correct themselves.  I am so very proud of them.  They take care of their glasses very well and are extremely good at wearing them without having to be reminded.  AND....don't they look so cute???

Haylie loves her glasses, and I think she looks absolutely adorable in them!

The first day she had them she was trying them on and wearing them to do coloring and school work.  It must have tuckered her right out because she fell asleep wearing them.

I can't imagine that they are that comfortable to sleep in but they didn't seem to bother her.  She slept for almost 2 hours.  I did however end up taking them off her so they didn't get broke.

Brody is an excellent little reader.  He likes to read most of the time but we still have a few battles.  He likes his new glasses as well and says it makes a big difference when he wears them.  I think they make him look as smart as he is!

I am very grateful that Brody helps read to Haylie.  There are some days that it seems like there is just not enough hours in the day to get everything finished.  Brody is good about reading whatever books she chooses. (Most of the time they are books he wouldn't have chosen for himself.)

Haylie likes him to read to her as well.  He was told last year to read with expression and even though you can't tell it from this picture he does read with a lot of expression.  Sometimes he sings opera, talks in funny voices, talks really loud and anything else that pops into his head at the time.  It is always very entertaining for his little sister.
