Baseball Time!

This year Brody had the opportunity along with 3 other second graders to play up in the league with the older kids.  He was very excited but a little nervous.  This was indeed a "whole new ballgame!"  Last year they were taught how to hit, catch, throw, and the basic fundamentals of the game.  They were pitched to by the coaches and the coaches tried really hard to make every pitch a strike.  This year they continued working on the fundamentals but they were pitched to by kids their own age, and stealing bases was allowed.  Each game was very interesting to watch.  In the first game they played...Brody was the only second grader to have a hit.  He had a grin from ear to ear all the way around the bases.  I am really looking forward to seeing how this little man progresses.  He has a lot of natural talent just waiting to come out.

Good swing but just barely missed.

Ball...don't swing!

Shane thought that it was time for Brody to have "big boy equipment" if you know what I mean.  During this game we laughed non-stop as Brody kept trying to adjust the equipment that was messing with his business.  After the game I took the equipment away so that he could focus on playing the game.

Giving it a little tap tap just to make sure it was still there!

Okay...now I am ready to play!

Running from 1st to 2nd.

Getting a good lead...
...sliding in to third!

Sliding safely in to home before the pitcher could tag him out.  Way to steal the bases BD.

Talking with coach Travis on 3rd.  This game was played in Annabelle.

Stretching those long legs.

Sizing up the competition.  Brody was quite a bit smaller than the other boys...and he is big for his age.

Once again...stealing home!

Brody came in to be the closing pitcher in this game.  He was very excited and did an excellent job!

Total concentration.

Ok...I'm ready.

Here it goes....STRIKE!!!

After he finished pitching his coaches had him try catching.  He liked it well enough, just not as much as he liked pitching.

I think he did a fantastic job. Plus... he looks good in the gear!
