4th of July Celebrations

The Fourth of July is a Holiday that is always a fun holiday for us to celebrate.  Torrey holds its Big Apple Days celebration and we always go to Richfield for a big BBQ and fireworks with the Madsen family.  This year was no different.   Haylie was crowned Little Miss Apple Days Princess on Friday and immediately after we went to the park to help set up the bounce houses.  The kids got to play on them for free until dark since their dads help to set them up.  Early on Saturday we got up to get ready for the parade.  Always a good time.  After the parade there were children's games and entertainment at the park and then I always do a BBQ at our house in the afternoon.  Busy fun filled day.

Haylie and Brody waiting to catch the apples for the apple race.

Their job was to make sure none of the apples went past this point in the canal.

Happy 4th of July!

The fireworks show as seen from Grandma and Grandpa Madsen's lawn in Richfield.

Always nice.

More fun than she could handle.

She had her bowl of popcorn (a tradition while watching the fireworks, but an added bonus for her because she LOVES popcorn) found a comfy spot on the lawn with her blanket, watched half of the fireworks show and then fell asleep.  She was just plain tuckered out.  Too much fun!

The "holiday" lasted all week with the kids being able to have cousins spend the night.  Mitch spent the night the first night and Lex the second night.  That was a lot of fun.  It is fun to have these cousins come and spend some time with us because we don't get to see them very often.

The morning after the night Lex spent at our house I was on my way to work and came upon this scene.  I thought it was a cute little picture of the kids sitting on top of the pig pen.  Little did I know until I got closer that they were actually having a picnic.

There lunch consisted of Fanta orange soda, pepperoni, apples, oranges and some crackers.  Kind of an interesting little lunch combination...but then again look at the chosen "picnic" location.

The next weekend we were able to get together with the Durfey family for a belated celebration.  The kids really enjoyed the swing Shane made and the fire pit he built so that they could roast marshmallows on the new marshmallow sticks they made with Grandma Connie.  It was nice to have Tamara, Andrew, and Emma here from Texas.  We sure miss them.

Mitch and Brody practicing their sniper skills.  They were pretty good little shooters and this entertained them for a long time.

Grandpa taking a nap (in the dirty garage) after lunch.  I guess it's not just the kiddos that get tuckered out!
