Written in Stone.

We have lived in our home for almost 10 years now and for 7-8 of those ten years we have had a big rock stood up in our driveway with the hopes of one day having our name blasted, carved, or painted in it.  Well this year was the year.  Wade Hansen did some trade work with Shane and all of us got what we wanted.  Wade and Kelli got a new cement pad in front of their house and Shane and I got our name carved in our rock.  That along with the awesome job Shane did on the pillar, rock wall in the entry of our driveway, and the sod he laid has made a HUGE difference in the roadside appearance of our house.  What a wonderfully talented man I am married to.

Our name carved in the rock...we have waited for such a long time for this.  Wade is a very talented rock mason.  We are still going to have Wade carve some sort of symbol on the right side but haven't decided what it will be yet.

Wade giving the kids a little instruction so they can try.

Just a little more guidance.

Ok Midge...let er rip.  Look at those dirty little digits.

Ooohhh...this is fun.

Doing her best work.

Brody taking his turn.  Once again look at those dirty little paws.

Such concentration.

Wade showing a more advanced technique.

Watch Haylie!

That's better.

Hard work?

They carved on this piece of rock that Wade gave them for over an hour.

This was the finished product.  HD (top right) BD (bottom right) on the left side you can kind of see the house and people that were carved.  Not bad for their first attempt.

You can see it a little better here.  Also right between their initials you can see the word FAM.  It was supposed to say family but they ran out of room.

While we were watching the kids carve their rock Tracy and Dad went by in the buggy.  Tracy is trying to train his horse LeRoy to pull a buggy.  Grandma Potter gave a really old buggy to Tracy and Dad.  They spent many hours on the buggy restoring it and it looks really nice.  This is just the practice buggy to get LeRoy used to pulling.  Tracy is hoping to get Grandma in her buggy and take her for a ride soon.

I can't get over how beautiful it is where we live.  Scenes like this are common regardless of where you go in the area.  It sure makes being inside difficult in the summer time.

Well...their carving is finished so back to having fun.  Since we don't have any sidewalks or paths for the kids to ride on they make their own fun by riding in their wagon up and down the driveway to the road and back.  One thing is for sure...my kids are pretty creative and it doesn't take much to keep them entertained.
