This was Brody's second year playing Falcon Basketball with Loa Elementary. Being as how the teams are divided up by towns, he doesn't get to play on the same team as most of his friends. Torrey and Teasdale are kind of a "hodge podge" sort of team. Most of these kids don't participate in sports other than Falcon ball. With Brody being so competitive I knew this year was going to be difficult for him. Most of the other teams had at least 2 really atheletic players on them. I knew ours wouldn't be a winning team so I sat down with Brody to discuss how his team could be a winning team. I spoke with him about how important it was for him to be a team leader and make sure everyone on the team had the opportunity to participate. He had a very special young lady on his team...Abigail! She absolutely adores Brody. Brody is kind to her everyday even when he gets heckling from some of the "tougher boys". As we were talking, Brody told me that he didn't really care if his team won or not but he was going to make sure that every player on his team had the opportunity to have the ball at least once every game. And he did! I was so proud of him. He was the athletic one on his team. Yet, even when the crowd was yelling "SHOOT IT" he would turn around and hand it to one of his teammates that had not had a chance to have the ball. Many times this resulted in a groan from some of his other teammates. One night on the way home from the ballgame he said to me, "Mom, did you so Abi? She was crying but after I gave the ball to her 3 times she was so happy!" Haylie added, "Ya Mom, did you see her? She was jumping up and down and clapping!" I looked in the mirror and saw their faces lit up and animated as they were discussing how good it made them feel to see that they had made a difference in someone's life. Definitely a proud moment for this mom.
Brody and Abigail. He was so good to her and made sure she got the ball every game.
I didn't get hardly any action shots because with the lighting most of them came out blurry.
Brody's team...Burgan Torgerson, Hanna Williams, Abigail Pikyavitt, Brody, Felicity Williams, Talmage Jensen, Shaleen Nelson, Kenna Stephenson, Kolt Pace.
